Duferco Travi e Profilati’s Sustainability Report 2023 is now available online. Published alongside the Duferco Group’s Annual Report, the document offers a detailed analysis of the company’s activities, economic results, and commitment to economic, social, and environmental sustainability of the steel division. The report also provides an overview of the company’s role and performance within the broader context of the Group.
In the letter to stakeholders, Bruno Bolfo, founder and president of the Group, describes 2023 as an extraordinarily challenging year, marked by rising inflation and global economic uncertainties. He emphasizes that the FY23 results are a powerful affirmation of the Duferco Group’s constant resilience and adaptability.
For the steel division, and particularly for the San Zeno plant, 2023 was a pivotal year. The start-up of the new SBM rolling mill completes the Group’s positioning and industrial structure, enabling the San Zeno plant to directly verticalize semi-finished products and opening up opportunities for further specialization in the Group’s other plants. In this sense, the investment represents the completion of a long-worked industrial dream and projects the Group into the future.
As Bruno Bolfo emphasizes:
“In this regard, the new green rolling mill was inaugurated in October 2023, a strategic investment of 250 million euros intended to radically transform Group’s industrial capacity and equally promote energy transition and decarbonization with the application of innovative technologies as well as renewable energy supply. This important investment represents one of the most remarkable initiatives undertaken by the Italian steel industry in recent years, consolidating Duferco’s leading position in the market. To meet the needs of the plant, a substantial indirect economic value was also generated for the surrounding communities, especially through the employment of external workers as well as partnership with local suppliers during construction”.
